What Made You Red?

Ashlyn was giving me a massage tonight. She pushed my shirt up a little bit and poked my belly button. Then she saw on my side a mark and asked, "Mommy, what made you red there?"
"You did."
"Huh?"
"All my babies did it."
She thought that was pretty cool and started listing off all my babies I had that made that mark. You know, "Ben and Maddie and Jacob and Ashie and Brian and Gina. All my Zufelts did it. Mommy is Gina a Zufelt?"

Mother's Day Merlion

May 13, 2014

My wonderful friend Gina and her sweet boyfriend Peter gave me this today for Mother's Day. Peter is such a great artist. He did amazing art work on the kids goodbye geckos and asked what I wanted him to do for me. I laughed and said a Merlion would be awesome but I wasn't getting a stuffed gecko for my friends to sign when I left. This absolutely made me day! I can't wait to frame it and hang it in my new home in Saudi Arabia.

Ratings Are In

December 19, 2013

Gina has gone home to visit her family in Tacloban City, or what's left of it anyway. Because she is gone I'm back on duty and cooked dinner tonight. Just for fun I asked how I did for my first night of cooking. Madison said it wasn't my first night cooking. I used to cook before Gina was here but she doesn't think I've cooked a single thing in THREE years. Oh brother. Totally NOT true. Gina does dinner only. Brian and I do everything else. I make cakes and cookies, breakfast muffins and coffee cakes, cheesecake and pumpkin pies, mashed potato and rolls.

Luckily Ben ranked me a two thumbs up and realized I have done some cooking in the last 21 months since we hired Gina.

Why Can't You Cook?

It cracked me up to see one of my kids go do this to someone else. My first 3 kids, of course, would come and shove their bodies between my legs and the counter as I struggled to get dinner prepared and on the table. This week Ashlyn did just that same exact thing to Gina.

We were both dying laughing. She would wedge her little head between Gina’s legs and the cupboard and push, push, push with her hands until she had gained a foot hold and then lay down and push Gina farther and farther away. If Gina stepped to the side to get away, she’d follow and keep pushing with all her little strength. The pictures are both when Gina side stepped her and she was rolling over to go at it again. All smiles and determination!

So does that mean it’s not a “pay attention to me mom” thing, it’s just a “pay attention to me ANYONE” thing. Kinda made my day to laugh at someone else trying to ballet dance over and around a 18 month old while dicing an onion and trying not trip. She loves Gina.

Don’t worry. After I got the picture, I took her away to play in the living room so Gina didn’t sprain an ankle.

Gina's Babies

Here is Ms Gina with her two cute babies. We had a fun time this morning when we dropped Gina off at the Pitmans place. The kids got a quick 45 minute play date with their buddies and I got the hilarious task of showing Kristy how to use the breast pump so she can leave the baby to do a temple session in Hong Kong next weekend at the women's conference. I had forgotten how horrible that machine really is until I explained how to use it. Can you say, "Mooooooo?"
