Dog Show

Kids are out of ideas on what to do today. Stella said she wanted to play family and be dogs. Maddie had a rotten face because she didn't want to be the owner. Jacob was willing but Maddie still drug her feet so me decided not to get into it.
I showed them a YouTube video of a dog show where the dogs run through tubes and jump over poles and such. All of a sudden everyone was into it and the big boys were ease dropping and planning. Five minutes later we have Ashlyn's baby tunnel out and the furniture is moved to the side if the room. We have the poles from the back yard we use for drying bed sheets and all the kitchen chairs and stools.

Here are the cute dogs ready for the show.

Walkie Talkies

Maddie made walkie talkies today. They even have a "tock" button so you can talk. Since Jacob can't read his says tock plus has a mouth drawn on it so he knows how to use it.

One of the things I love lost about Maddie is that if that girl has paper, pencil and scissors she will just draw any toy she is lacking and be totally fine with playing with a paper version of the real thing. She has a wondeful and active imagination and is so pleasant when she plays something with Jacob that requires totally suspension of reality and they immerse themselves in their own detailed imaginary world.

Maddie is Pregnant

Maddie is only five and I just got the news she's pregnant. Dr. Ben just took an xray with the metronome (for the piano) and it says she's going to have 216 babies! They will all look just like Ben's Precious Moments doll Potsy as you can see on the tv monitor and they will all be dressed in blue pajamas with white stars on them. I was anxious about having just one in a few weeks. I'm such a wimp!

Then I hear the c-section surgery begin by our neighbor, Dr. Allen. He is using a neon orange chainsaw and his assistants have other useful tools. I'm hoping my doctor has a smaller knife ready for me in March. Of course they all switched jobs when I tried taking a picture but I love the way Maddie is laid out on the top of the fouton couch and how Eun Seo is unscrewing her belly button. Imagination play days are so much more fun than video game and cable tv days at our house!!

Seriously? Who Does That?

Ben is having a playdate with Anthony and Connor today. They are fully engaged in a wild sword fight in the living room when Ben says, "I'm going to write Anthony a song now. Mom, where is my piano book?" He's serious too. He's trying to write a song. Who does that? Might be time for us to capitilize on his interest in music, eh?

Zufelt Family Restaurant

My kids spend a fair amount of time playing restaurant these days. It is such a fantastic imagination game. It can get very involved with the cooking procedures, making several courses to each meal, checking in with the customers to make sure it tastes “pretty good” and clearing the dishes away. Sometimes Ben makes fake menus and asks me how to spell things, some days he doesn’t want to take the time for that. They usually get along very well and it makes for a pleasant afternoon at the house when the Zufelt Family Restaurant is open.
