While Brian was showing Ben a display about the Bible and Jesus at the St. George Temple Visitors Center, Maddie was just looking around. She spotted the back side of the Christus statue down the hall. She got so excited and jumped up and down. “Mommy! Can I get Jesus a snuggle?!?!” I smiled, knowing it was too high for her to ever reach the larger than life sized statue of Christ. I told her we could go over and blow him a kiss if he was too high to reach. She ran down the hallway to the statue. I sat on the bench in front of Christ and just reveled in her love for Jesus. The smile on her face was just so big. It is usually a quiet place for reflection, but since we were the only ones in the room at the time, I let her have free reign to express herself and her love of Christ. She would stare lovingly up at his compassionate face. Then spontaneously and with lots of gusto would wave and loudly proclaim, “Hello, Jesus!” It can just melt a mother’s heart to see her children’s unstifled love for Christ. We must be doing something right. We are grateful for our children and their purity.
